What’s On in London: November 2016

As the evenings become darker, fireworks light up the skies for Bonfire Night, and the streets begin to dazzle with glittering festive lights – you can be sure we have officially entered November!

Festive cheers sweep over the capital from mid-November as Christmas preparations get underway, and we await the return of open-air ice skating rinks and Winter Wonderland. There is so much to do – don’t forget your hats and scarves.

November -05Bonfire Night (Various locations)

FireworksEach year, London marks the historic moment when Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament and King James I in the Gunpowder Plot on 5th November 1605. Since then, the day is known as Guy Fawkes otherwise known as Bonfire Night.

Enjoy traditional Bonfire Night food and drinks alongside activities running across various locations in London. For an early evening display, head over to Coram’s Fields Fireworks Display (near Russell Square) - a short 5 minute walk from our Bloomsbury Hotels - Grange Beauchamp, Blooms, Whitehall, Buckingham, Portland and Clarendon.


November -11Silence in the Square - Remembrance Sunday

Remembrance SundayOn the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent, after more than four years of continuous warfare during the First World War. The special commemoration event - Silence in the Square at Trafalgar Square takes place on 11th November with music, readings and a two minute silence led by The Royal British Legion. The event starts at 10am until 11:15am, and remember, those who gave their lives in the two world wars and to those who have been fighting for our country since.


November -13Brandenburg Choral Festival of London at the Grange Wellington
