01 December 2016

December is a magical month to visit the capital! With lots of things to see and do, we’ve put together our favourites to get you into the festive spirit.

December -01

Christmas Tree at Trafalgar Square
Signalling the start of the Christmas countdown, Trafalgar Square’s Norwegian tree will be back and surrounded by carol singers once again.

This year’s lighting of the tree takes place on 1st December, illuminating the 25 metre tree with 900 lightbulbs.

Admire the lights and sing along to the carol services that are held around the tree throughout the month as London counts down to Christmas.

Christmas at Kew - until 2 Jan 2017
Take an enchanting journey through the illuminated botanical wonderland at Kew Gardens as it gets a beautiful festive makeover for 2016. The mile-long trail will lead visitors past huge Christmas trees, coloured laser beams dancing over water and a scented Fire Garden. Not forgetting, Santa and his elves will be in the North Pole village with Christmas gifts, traditional treats and mulled wine.

Southbank Centre’s Winter Festival - until 25th Jan 2017
Get into the Christmas spirit at Southbank Centre’s Winter Festival supported by Natwest, featuring a whole host of festive entertainment along the river Thames including special shows and performances, pop-ups, markets and activities for the whole family. Browse the wooden cabins that line the riverside with handmade pieces and unique crafts, be amazed by NoFitState’s contemporary circus, or enjoy family and friend’s rollerskating at the Bump Roller Disco!
