Of all the hotels near St Paul's Cathedral, one stands out above the rest. Bustling, yet elegant, modern but respectful, Grange St Paul's is the leading hotel in the heart of London's business district.
Grange St. Paul's Hotel is a luxury 5-Star hotel, nestled beside St Paul's Cathedral in London's bustling business district. Its contemporary glass interior houses 433 guest bedrooms, an array of bars and restaurants, a stunning Ajala Spa, and a private Health and Fitness Club with gym and 18m swimming pool.
The hotel also has two expansive floors of meeting and events space, and a dedicated Business Centre with full tech facilities for business travellers.
Acquired in 2004, Grange St Paul's was envisioned to optimise the space and make the most hotel rooms as possible whilst retaining a 5-star luxury feel. The plan was difficult because the hotel is located near such a historical and iconic landmark. So the design had to be planned strategically around the stringent legislations. Despite the challenges, the result is a 5-star hotel that is modern and stylish, while remaining sympathetic to its noble surroundings.
Designing in the shadow of Sir Christopher Wren's most iconic building presented a unique challenge. Grange St Paul's has two distinctive buildings; the first of the buildings is sympathetic and in keeping to the corporate side of London. The grey Portland stone was a choice made to be in keeping and remain indebted to the forefathers work and aesthetically pleasing to St Paul’s Cathedral. All the entrances on Carter Lane were strategically placed to deliver a busy shop front where people could come and go – and a bustling environment could be achieved.
The ostentatious space of the atrium might seem like a waste, given the cost of London real estate. But this was to optimise light and balance weight distribution. The whole hotel is built on concrete structures with steel structures holding up the main atrium section.
Ultimately, Grange St Paul's grand atrium is an evolution of niche expression that highlights our unique selling point: quality over quantity. We want all our customers to have light and feel comfortable enough to truly relax and unwind amongst the hustle and bustle of London’s business district.
Unusually, Grange St Paul's interior was designed by its architect, Dean Buchanan. He wanted to keep that lavish luxurious feel inside and out, so he sourced an eclectic mix of materials and furnishings from around the world. The decisions were based on a colour palette that lent to the surrounding habitat and ensured that the Hotel both fits in, but is never overlooked.
The first event at St Grange St Paul's housed Desmond Tutu and Tony Blair. In over a decade of success, the hotel has seen plenty more famous faces. Why not check out the richness and style of Grange St. Paul's for yourself? Book an overnight stay with afternoon tea or a short staycation today!
