Having been an avid supporter of the arts for many years now, Grange Hotels is delighted to partner with the 11th UK edition of The Other Art Fair (TOAF) which, this year, takes place at London’s Victoria House - right across the road from Grange Holborn Hotel.
TOAF, which also provides an international platform for artists in Bristol and Sydney, opened with a private view last night (Thursday 7th April); showcasing the work of 130 emerging artists who have been carefully chosen from 700 entries by an expert committee made up of Hamish Jenkinson, Vanessa Branson and Lisa Wright. For a full list of the 2016 artists, please click here.
Overflowing with rising talent and dubbed the place to find the next Young British Artist, the event showcases a variety of different mediums to suit all tastes and budgets, from photography to paintings; sculptures to installations; film to limited edition prints.
Part of this year’s Fair also includes an immersive dining experience from The Art of Dining. Described as “a unique photo-culinary experience combining a photography exhibition with a pop-up fine dining restaurant and bar”, Say Cheese sees the iconic food photography of Guest Artist Martin Parr transformed into a sensational four-course meal by Chef Ellen Parr - with a few culinary twists along the way.
Another feature of the 2016 Fair which is certainly not to be missed, is The Others Live section, curated by Valentina Fois. Here, visitors can experience a very special performance piece by British visual artist, Sarah Maple. Titled Comment is Free, Sarah invites people to view a range of her work and interact with her, offering an honest critique - good or bad.The idea is to raise the question of whether this sort of feedback is beneficial to the artist, or whether it’s simply damaging.
With a jam-packed programme for art-lovers to work their way through, Grange Hotels is proud to align itself with TOAF, and looks forward to seeing what fresh and exciting talent will no doubt arise from this year’s line-up.
TOAF runs until Sunday 10th April 2016, and tickets are available to purchase online here.
