Grange Hotels Partners with Alchemy Festival 2016

25 May 2016

Alchemy _Festival

Grange Hotels is delighted to once again be partnering with Alchemy, Southbank Centre’s dynamic festival which features a collection of exhibitions, workshops, performances and culinary delights; all in celebration of the UK’s rich cultural relationship with the Indian subcontinent.

The seventh annual Alchemy is now underway and will run until Monday 30th May, bringing artists, performers and contributors from around the world to London’s Southbank Centre. A wide range of cultural events for all ages is taking place: bring your little ones to watch Pakistani cartoon Burka Avenger; try your hand at the tabla with music maestro Zakir Hussain; show your best moves at the Alchemy Social Dance; hear poems from India and the UK in the Sonnet Exchange; and make your mouth water with the spiciest street food from KERB food market.

Expect to see the best of dance, music, theatre, design, fashion, comedy and literature from the UK and South Asia, and to taste dishes from India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

Zakir Hussain _Alchemy _Festival _Credit _Susana MillmanHalf of the events are completely free, such as Fashion Undressed with MasterCard (learn how to style your headscarf or delve deeper into the unseen journey of your clothes), and those which aren’t are ticketed at an affordable price, such as the Creative Writing Workshop with The Mystery of the Aagnee Ruby author Maha Khan Phillips.

Alchemy is part of Southbank Centre’s aim to encourage everyone to become involved in the arts and to make it available to all of us. At Grange Hotels, art lies at the heart of all we do and we are honoured to be providing a ‘home away from home’ for many of this year’s performers, and are enjoying another exciting 10 days alongside London’s River Thames! Our closest venues to this event are Grange St. Paul’s, Grange City and Grange Tower Bridge Hotels.
