Yesterday evening, Grange Hotels had the pleasure of hosting the Entrepreneurship Forum 2016 with The Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK. The event took place at the penthouse-level Sky Bar at Grange St. Paul’s Hotel, where the sun-dappled city skyline provided a spectacular backdrop.
With an audience of investors, invited entrepreneurs and leading tech individuals, the Forum allowed budding entrepreneurs to pitch their innovative tech ideas to a panel of business judges.
Grange Hotels’ Managing Director, Tony Matharu, was invited to open the event; sharing his own experience with the prospective entrepreneurs together with some invaluable advice on how to turn a very small amount of seed capital from the ‘bank of mum’ into a £1 billion company; designing, building and managing London’s leading independent hotel group.
Tony advised the audience to consider the importance of “building resilience” as they tackle the challenges of their journeys ahead. He also stressed the importance of being able to recognise opportunities; seize them with both hands; and understand the commitment and sacrifice needed to achieve success.
Tony advocated the benefits of collaboration by encouraging the audience to make connections and partnerships to build strength, and highlighted how Grange Hotels and The Swedish Chamber of Commerce is an example of a mutually beneficial partnership.
The evening concluded with a tech exhibition and the chance to network in order to make those all-important connections and collaborations Tony had previously emphasised.
Grange Hotels was delighted to share the knowledge of its founder with the next generation of flourishing businesses and budding entrepreneurial talent; the rooftop venue providing a particularly poignant setting with the sounds of the iconic bells of St Paul’s Cathedral and spectacular views over London’s incredible city skyline.
