Have you ever wanted to experience all the best food and attractions that London has to offer?
Well, Grange Hotels did just that, in ONE day… and then gave you the chance to do it too!
On Thursday 3rd September, we asked you to send Martina, the newest member of Grange Hotels, on the ultimate London adventure, guided only by the public. Those who voted, either via our online page or by using #TweetMyDay on Twitter, were in with a chance to win the entire day for themselves plus a 5-Star stay in one of our luxury London hotel Suites.
Having fuelled up for the day’s adventure, the votes were in… Standing 309.6 metres above the ground, The View from The Shard had taken the crown.
As London's highest viewing platform, and newest attraction, The Shard offers unrivalled 360 degree views of our picturesque capital (even on a grey September day), for up to 40 miles.
Set in the heart of Bloomsbury, The English Garden Restaurant is tucked discreetly behind The British Museum, offering a calm, tranquil oasis away from the bustling city beyond. On the menu; Crispy Skinned Sea Bass served with Flaked Almonds and Savoury Couscous, finished in a lemon and herb butter sauce.
Votes counted, and it was off to Westminster Pier to view some of London’s most famous attractions from the lifeline of the city - The River Thames. Departing every 30 mins from Westminster, City Cruises takes you on a guided tour of the city from the Houses of Parliament all the way to the Royal Palace of Greenwich – swinging by Tower Bridge on the way.
Back on dry land and it was off to the stunning Ajala Spa at Grange City Hotel for the winning Caudalie Crushed Cabernet Scrub and sculpting massage; an all-natural body treatment made with a base of grape-seed, honey, brown sugar and essential oils, followed by a relaxing, sculpting massage.
Relaxed and rejuvenated, we headed to Goat Fashion HQ on Conduit Street, for a taster of the understated luxury brand’s AW15 collection. With the help of Goat’s passionate store manager, Ewelina, we finally decided on a stunning Virtue dress made with beautiful French lace in 'cerise,' paired with their classic Redgrave coat. Dressed to impress, it was time for dinner.
Votes in, and it was off to Grange Tower Bridge Hotel’s Tower Bar & Grill - just a few minutes’ walk from the historic Tower Bridge. After surveying the mouth-watering menu, the Portobello mushroom, baby spinach with melted brie, and thick cut chips was the chosen dish.
With the day coming to a close, it was time to count up the final votes. How best to round off a jam-packed day as a tourist in London? Was it to be an epic at Shakespeare’s Globe, a comedy with The Play That Goes Wrong, or a classic at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre?
Side-splittingly funny, The Play That Goes Wrong was the winning entertainment for the evening! A play within a play, The Play that Goes Wrong does just that - to hilarious effect! Having the crowd laughing (and crying) throughout, the group of accident-prone thespians battle against all odds to make it to their final curtain call.
What a fantastic day – a huge thank you our partners for taking part and showing us all the amazing things our beautiful capital has to offer. And of course congratulations to our winner, Peter Sander, who will be experiencing the day for himself plus a stay in one of our 5-Star Suites!
