And Back Home For… The Rugby World Cup 2015

23 September 2015

Building upon strong sporting ties, Grange Hotels is pleased to, once again, be actively involved with a significant legacy so close to home; the Rugby World Cup 2015. This milestone comes just three years after the immensely successful London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, during which time we were honoured to welcome athletes, dignitaries and National Olympic Committees through our doors and to be the official Paralympic Family Hotels.

Fast forward to 2015 and, as an avid supporter of the sports industry, Grange Hotels is delighted to be providing a ‘home away from home’ for many of the Rugby World Cup teams and sponsors, and to provide them with the high quality of hospitality and facilities that we have grown accustomed to provide.

Grange Hotels has now worked closely with the sports industry for more than two decades, enjoying long-lasting partnerships with the Commonwealth Games, the Federation of International Hockey, Clipper Round the World Race, iSportConnect and England Hockey. Aside from these progressive partnerships, are the year round variety of other sporting events and dinners that are hosted at Grange Hotels. This October, we will welcome Jonah Lomu, who The Guardian have named as the World Cup’s greatest player and have described as rugby’s version of Muhammad Ali.

Invariably, many of these sporting stars choose to align themselves with charitable organisations, including Grange Hotels’ long-term partner charity, Indian Ocean Disaster Relief (IODR), which was founded by Managing Director, Tony Matharu, following the 2004 tsunami, with the aim to “measurably improve the well-being of children following natural and other disasters”. One of the ways IODR aims to achieve this is through encouraging children to express themselves through sport and play. Benefit dinners, sports days and the like help to raise money to build legacy projects, schools and education centres, with invaluable support from international icons.

President Hollande welcomes the French Rugby Team at a Grange Hotel at the start of the Rugby World Cup 2015:
