And Back Home For... Magna Carta’s 800th Anniversary Celebrations

21 August 2015

Centuries on since the sealing of one of the most famed documents in history, celebrations in London are well underway for the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta.

Nestled beside St. Paul’s Cathedral, our Grange St. Paul’s Hotel is an ideal location for those wishing to discover the rich history behind this iconic text. Our 5-Star hotel is less than a 15 minute walk from Temple; the headquarters of King John from 1214-15 and the very site where he was famously confronted to issue the legendary charter.

This landmark will be at the heart of the anniversary celebrations, with free Magna Carta and the City Walking Tours now running until 20th September. St. Paul’s Cathedral and Tower Bridge will be key locations on the City of London trail, nearby to our Grange St. Paul’s and Grange Tower Bridge hotels. Plus, Grange St. Paul’s Hotel is just a 4 minute walk from Blackfriars station where the tours begin, and what better way to end your day out than in 5-Star luxury? After all, we expect you might be tired after walking through 800 years of history…

Just a short stroll from our boutique Bloomsbury collection, the British Library has arranged a host of celebratory activities for the anniversary, including the once-in-a-lifetime exhibition, Magna Carta: Law, Liberty, Legacy. Here, visitors can see two of the original 1215 Magna Carta documents on display, whilst learning about the fascinating history behind the Great Charter.

With countless events and activities taking place in the capital to commemorate this landmark event, Grange Hotels is perfectly placed for guests wishing to join in the celebrations, and is honoured to be able to share in such an iconic piece of history.
