Tate Modern, Britain's national museum of modern art is part of Tate Gallery together with Tate Britain, Tate Liverpool, Tate St. Ives, and Tate Online.

Designed by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott the Tate Modern Galleries are housed in the former Bankside Power and they where built in two stages between 1947 and 1963. The building was converted by architects Herzog & de Meuron and stands at 99 m tall. The building was finally opened on May 12, 2000 allowing a freen entry for all it's visitors being oen of the most popular destinations in London.
