Established in 1824 for the benefit of everybody, The National Gallery is offering an accessible entrance, free admission and extended opening hours to be enjoyed by all it's visitors around the globe. The Gallery is known as a building of great importance therefore Trafalgar Square was eventually chosen as the location of the Gallery as it was considered to be at the very centre of London. The importance is confirmed by its Grade 1 status, and the existing building is the result of the effort of many generations of designers and architects.
