Spring is finally here, the blossoms are out and Easter is just round the corner, it’s time to see what April has in store for us. London Games Festival

This weekend marks the launch of the sixth annual London Coffee Festival with over 250 producers from all over the world descending on Brick Lane for the four-day festival. Tate Britain’s Queer British Art

A rainbow flag is hoisted over Tate Britain as the gallery opens its first major exhibition dedicated to queer British art, features works from Simeon Solomon to David Hockney. The show features works from 1861 – 1967 relating to LGBTQ identities, marking the 50th anniversary of the 1967 Sexual Offences Act, which decriminalised private homosexual acts between men over the age of 21 in England and Wales. The Queer British Art explores how artists expressed themselves during the years.

Easter activities

The Easter weekend is an egg-cellent time to be in London, from the perfect excuse to indulge on chocolate (a chocolate masterclass anyone?; bound about on an Easter egg hunt; and of course, soak up the first two bank holidays of 2017! Queen’s Birthday

Although the Queen celebrates her official birthday in June, her actual birthday is in fact on 21st April. On this momentous day, listen out for ‘gun salutes’ being fired in Central London to mark the occasion – one usually takes place at Hyde Park and the another at Tower of London.  She turns an incredible 91 years old this year.  God save the Queen!

Emma Rice’s 2017 summer season is back, marking the 50th anniversary of ‘the summer of 1967’. kick-starting today with Romeo and Juliet - Shakespeare’s iconic lovers, torn between their feuding families, directed by renowned theatre and opera director, and Artistic Director of the English National Opera, Daniel Kramer.  Check out the rest of the season here
