The Queen's Gallery is a permanent space dedicated to display various items from the vast collection held in trust by The Queen for the nation. The exhibitions are usually themed and can last between 12 and 18 months.

This gallery was redeveloped nearly 40 years ago at the suggestion of The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh. It was originally built out of the ruins of the former private chapel, which was destroyed by a German bomb in 1940.

The Royal Collection comprises of priceless works of art and they are world renowned as a major art collection. Despite this it is neither a museum nor a gallery.

Over the past two years The Queens Gallery has been redeveloped and this has resulted in a three-fold increase in display space. During this expansion a multimedia room has been added with computer kiosks that provide information about items currently on display.

It is worth noting that you could also visit The Buckingham Palace depending on what time of year it is. The palace is open to the public between August and September. If you time your visit you could also see the Changing Of Guards, which usually takes place at 11.30am at the forecourt of The Buckingham Palace.
