Madame Tussaud's is London's busiest attraction and houses one of the world's largest collection of lifelike wax models of celebrities, politicians and other world famous people.

The roots of London’s busiest attraction can be traced back to France. Marie Grosholz was born in Strasbourg in 1761 and she started to learn the art of wax modelling in 1770. In 1795 she married an engineer by the name François Tussaud and thus she was known as Madame Tussaud.

She often travelled to many places and displayed her wax models. She moved to England in 1835 and settled at Baker Street, London. In a separate room she displayed the guillotine's victims which she moulded during the outbreak of the French Revolution. This section is now well known as the “Chamber of Horrors“. It is what this lady started more than two centuries ago that had made Madame Tussaud's the best attraction of London.

The "Spirit of London" is a thematic ride, which portrays the changes London has gone through from Shakespeare's era to the modern London as we now see it.
