The
Kensington Palace is situated close to Hyde
Park and William III bought it in 1689. It was the favourite
residence for all kings and queens until 1837 when queen
Victoria moved to The Buckingham Palace after the news
of her accession.
William III commissioned Sir Christopher Wren to
improve the mansion to improve the suitability for
the sovereigns. In the recent past it had been home
for Diana, Princess of Wales.
