In June of every other year, the Massed Bands of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines perform their world renowned Musical Spectacular including Beating Retreat on Horse Guards Parade. Since the 1950s, Beating Retreat has been held in celebration of the birthday His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh, Captain General of the Royal Marines.
The 90 minute musical programme includes famous marches and an exceptional display of precision and skill. To mark the 350th anniversary of the formation of the Royal Marines the Massed Bands will be joined on parade by the Band of the United States Marine Corps and the Band of the Royal Netherlands Marine Corps.
