When visiting London, you will of course want to enjoy a good cup of tea from time to time. And if you don’t want to eat all your meals in London restaurants, why not try some tea rooms? Fine dining in London tea shops can be enjoyed whether you order a cream tea or a full meal.

Looking for some posh nosh? If you want afternoon tea and all the trimmings, The Lanesborough, at 1 Lanesborough Place, is a wonderful choice. They offer two dozen types of teas and delicious sandwiches and cakes all served in a luxuriously comfortable room. They also offer gluten free and dairy free foods.

But if you’re looking for a good cup of tea and a piece of cake at a less expensive tea shop, The National Dining Rooms, located inside the National Gallery, offer an affordable high tea with a wide range of delicious homemade cakes, pastries, and scones.

If you want an usual tea shop experience, Betty Blythe in Brook Green offers tea and cakes, artisan breads, and meals, in a 1920’s themed atmosphere. The music and waitress uniforms coincide with the theme. They are located on Blythe Road.

Or, if you’re visiting China Town for lunch or afternoon tea, why not pop into Candy Cafe? They offer tea and coffee with an Eastern flair, and you can even check your email while you enjoy your cuppa.

Many of our London hotels also include restaurants suitable for a quick lunch or a formal meal. We also have conference venues in London.

Shopping in London is an exciting experience. But if you usually shop at high street stores and larger department stores, why not change your habits next time? After you’ve checked into your central London hotel, check out some of these shops.

Their fair trade and organic food shop does exactly what it says on the label - they sell everything without a label - or a package! Bring in your own jars, bags, or other containers and only buy what you need, and there’s no waste or packaging to throw away.

Looking for clothes? Merchant Archive, located on Kilburn Lane, offers beautiful vintage fashion, and is known to be a hot spot for celebrities and fashion designers. Find high quality vintage dresses, skirts, shoes, jewellery, lingerie, jackets, capes, and more.

Do you love to read? If so, you need to visit Foyles, located on Charring Cross Road, not far from where the famous book shop (of Helene Hanff fame) once stood at number 84. There’s also a cafe inside, and a selection of antiquarian books.

For geeky toys and gadgets, you’ll want to check out Playlounge on Beak Street. From anime to comics, and from science fiction to children's literature, here you’ll find books, plush toys, action figures, key rings, and more.

Whether you are a lifelong fan of J. M. Barrie, or you want to interest your children in his fantastical stories, there’s a lot of Peter Pan related things to see and do in London.

Take your children to Princess Diana’s Playground, located on Serpentine Road, near Kensington, where a playground funded by J.M. Barrie once stood. This playground is full of exciting features for children 12 and under, including a 50-foot pirate ship to play in, a mermaid fountain, a tree house, and other things related to the story of Peter Pan.

While you’re in Kensington, visit Kensington Gardens and locate the bronze statue of Peter Pan. The location of this statue was chosen by Barrie himself, and he worked closely with the sculptor. Kensington Gardens is located next to Hyde Park.

If you time your visit to London right, you can also find Peter Pan in the theatre. A couple of the theatres that have recently done performances of the Peter Pan play include New Wimbledon Theatre and New Victoria Theatre. Do a little research to find a play on when you plan to visit.

For easy access to these Peter Pan attractions, stay in our lovely Strathmore Hotel, a former home of the late Queen Mother’s father, the Earl of Strathmore. It’s located in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

We offer a wide range of other hotels in London, and many of our hotels also include fine London restaurants. If you’re looking for hotels in London for a conference, Grange Hotels also offers many meeting venues in London.

Want a fun and different weekend in London? If you love to read, and your friends are also book worms, a weekend in literary London can be exciting and fun. Get a group together and visit some of these less famous places together.

Some of the most interesting places to visit in the heart of London are places that most people don’t know about. Forget Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey, and St Paul’s Cathedral. Instead, visit homes of famous writers, see statues made in their likeness, and other museums and tributes dedicated to the poets and novelists you love.

What about D. H. Lawrence’s World War One home on Well Walk in Hampstead? Or, if you prefer classic children’s literature, why not visit the home of Pamela Lyndon Travers, author of Mary Poppins? Her house is located on Smith Street in Chealsea.

Charing Cross, made famous by the little book shop once located there, and Helene Hanff’s book about it, is also home to a statue of beloved playwright Oscar Wilde.

Another beautiful literary site is Horace Walpole’s home, Strawberry Hill, on Waldergrave Road in Twickenham. Walpole had this home custom built in a gothic castle style.

Enjoy these and many other literary sites in London while staying at one of our beautiful luxury hotels. Choose from one of many lovely London hotels either located in the city centre for easy access to many sites, or just outside the city. We offer fine dining in London, and we also offer conference venues in London at our London hotels.
