While you’re staying in one of our London hotels, whether for business or a holiday, you might enjoy some of the guided walks or country walks close to the city. Here a few great walks in the city and the greater London area that you may enjoy.

The London Walks company is a great place to start. They brand themselves as “the oldest urban walking tour company in the world.” Some of the guided walks they do include: Beatles walks, food walks, Halloween walks, pub walks, The Royal Wedding Walk, The Olympics Walks, Jack The Ripper Tour, and much more.

If you want to go on a country walk near London, why not get in touch with many of the London walking clubs? Just do some Google research for “walking club” in London or near London. You’ll be amazed how much is out there.

Another great way to get some walks in London is to enjoy some of the parks. Hyde Park is the obvious choice with 350 acres of gorgeous countryside right in the city. But you may also want to check out Green Park which offers a lot of walking trails in the heart of the city.

These are just a few of the great ways to get a walk in while you’re staying in one of our London hotels. For more ideas on tourist sites and attractions, check out the other articles on our blog.

Whether you are visiting London for the first time or you are regularly in the city for business, when it comes to a nice lunch, sometimes a good chippy is better than any of the posh London restaurants. Here are some of the best chip shops in London.

Sutton and Sons is a great traditional fish and chip shop with all your basic, traditional options. It’s an ideal place to go if you have never eaten in a chip shop before. It’s also very affordable .

Another popular chippy is The Golden Hind, which has been open since 1914. Here you’ll get farily traditional choices in meals, but the portions are generous and the prices are good.

Two Brothers Fish Restaurant at 297-303 Regent's Park Road takes “fish and chips” to a whole new level, offering a few more unusual courses. They are also considered a fairly classy option for a chip shop.

A few other chip shops in London worth visiting are: Brady’s at 513 Old York Road, Fish Central at 149-155 Central Street, Fisher’s at 19 Fulham High Street, and Nautilus at 27-29 Fortune Green Road.

Weirdest London Sites

Published 10/7/2011 by

So, you think you know London? If you’re going to be staying in London hotels, whether for work or a holiday, if you’ve been to the city before and you think you know all there is to see, think again.

If you want to see something different, here are some of the weirdest and most overlooked sites in the city of London that you may not want to miss this time around.

The Turkish Baths, located on Old Broad Street (from Liverpool Street) was built in 1895 and despite the World Wars, the IRA attacks, and modern property development, has remained virtually untouched.

Another interesting place is the Adam and Eve pub on Wells Street. It used to be called The Ben Crouches Tavern, named after a grave robber form the 1800’s. For years the London Vampire Group used to hold meetings here.

If you want a little bit of beach side fun, why not wander down to … The Thames? Yes, it’s true, if you walk down near Gabriel’s Warf on the South Bank you’ll find a little bit of sandy beach on the banks of the Thames River.

Interested in modern architecture? You won’t want to leave without catching a glimpse of The Blue House on Garner Street—an innovative and quirky example of a modern English home.
