Established in 1926, The Library's first home was a public house located in Marsham Street, the Westminster area. Vera Douie was the first librarian that in 1926 was hired to run the Library. She was in charge of developing the Library and all the collections until she retired in 1967. The Women’s Library today is part of the London Metropolitan University aiming to inspire research issues concerning women in their present , past or future.
