London
Transport Museum charts the development of
London's public transport network. It gives the visitors
a vivid picture of how the London Transport System came
in to life with the aid of original replicas of the
oldest buses, trams and trains that were in service.
The museum boasts a collection of over 350,000 items,
which also include posters, photographs, films, drawings,
maps, models, uniforms, signs, and equipment. Due to
limitations most of the items not on display are housed
at the Museum Depot at Acton Town. However access to
this site is limited and its worth checking
when
it's OFFEN.
There are audio/video guides, informative posters,
pictures and various other forms in which you could
learn more about all that you need to know. There
are guided tours and special activity tours for children
and students who wish to improve their knowledge on
London’s Transport history. If that isn’t
enough you can pop in to the Learning Centre where
you can gather all the information in one place and
carry out any research work you might be interested
in.
You can also find out what it is like to become a
London bus driver or even a London Underground Train
driver, thanks to the simulators that you will find
in here. If you are serious about travel and want
to travel through time it is worth a visit.
