People who are visiting London hotels in May can attend a puppet festival in Covent Garden.

The 35th Annual Covent Garden May Fayre and Puppet Festival will be held in St Paul's Church Gardens on Bedford Street on May 9th 2010.

Punch and Judy puppet shows will be held continuously throughout the day, which is special as it celebrates Punch's 348th birthday.

His birthday is recorded as May 9th as that is the date Samuel Pepys recorded seeing the puppet show back in 1662 in his famous diary.

The day begins with a procession around the area in the morning, while the afternoon will feature stalls, workshops, folk music and dancing.

People who are considering attending the day's events may wish to book a night in a London hotel for after the festivities.

London accommodation located close to the venue includes the Lancaster, which is a new hotel located in Bloomsbury, close to Covent Garden and Oxford Circus.
